Back in 1999, I co-signed on a car with the girlfriend at the time. We broke up in 2001 and I went overseas with the military. I was contacted by Americredit who told me the car payment had not been paid and they were going to repo it. I told them to go ahead as I lived in Italy and could not make contact with the person who had it. The guy I talked to told me as long as I helped him locate the girl or the car, they would not come after me for the money. I agreed, and helped. I haven't heard anything from them until today, 3/10/2006. More than 4 years later. I will be happy to join any class action suit and sue the hell out of them. How can a company tell you something one day and 4 or 5 years later demand something different? I leave for Iraq in 2 weeks. Maybe something will be resolved before I get back. Sorry to hear of yet another victim of Americredit. There have been several people on the rip-off reports who have requested a class action lawsuit against them. that is the only way to stop them, but as of yet I have not been contacted but would love to file one No matter who you talk to at this company you will get a different answer and most of the time they just tell you a bold face lie to get rid of you. The BBB and Attorney General's office does nothing to them and they know it. THat is how they are allowed to keep ripping people off and calling it legal. They put our account in charge off while my husband was deployed to Iraq. No notice or anything and this is a direct violation of the SCRA. When you operate as loansharks you can do about whatever you want to and get by with it. Sneaky, caniving and scum are all words that describe this company. The more people who complain the better and that is what it is going to take to shut them down once and for all. Legal Loansharks should be their name. Be safe in Iraq and I appreciate all our men and women who fight for our freedoms and this wonderful country. Take care and hope somehow this company can get what it deserves. As I have told them more than once, they need to take the America out of their name, because they operate as communists. They have no respect for their customers at all and have even less for the men and women who serve our country.
